A large European Ship Owner suffered a major engine failure with one of their RUSTON 8RK270 MK2 engines that destroyed the Crankshaft and Bedplate. With no new Crankshaft or Bedplate immediately available we were able to assist with an identical engine with very low running hours, showing the benefit of holding over 30 previously owned Ruston engines in our stock.
Our Service Team were immediately able to swing into action to strip our engine for the Crankshaft and Bedplate, which was needed on a breakdown basis. Within days the engine had been completely stripped and the Crankshaft removed, cleaned and prepared for inspection by the owners Technical staff. After being given the ok the Crankshaft was then refitted to the Bedplate with a set of Bearings and both were despatched.
All this was done in a week, much to the satisfaction of a grateful customer.
