Ruston 6RK270 engines arrive at EDS

EDS have recently received into their stock 2 off Ruston 6RK270 MK1 engines. The engines were installed at Belmopan Power Station in Belize, Central America and were in operational use until the station was taken off line when Belize no longer needed the power from the station following the increase in hydro power available. EDS purchased the entire power station that included the 2 off Ruston 6RK270 engines, three other generator sets and a large amount of surplus RK270 MK1 spare parts and tools.

Following the purchase of the power station a team of EDS Service Engineers travelled to Belize to decommission the power station, remove the Ruston 6RK270 sets and prepare them for shipment back to the UK. Included in the team was one of our ex-Ruston Engineers who previously worked on the engines in Belize while he was employed by Ruston Diesels In Newton-le-Willows.

Both engines have now arrived back in the UK where the Crankshaft & Bedplate from one of the engine has already been sold to a Tug operator with a fleet of Ruston 6RK270 powered Tugs to enable them to repair one of their Tugs that had suffered the loss of the Crankshaft and Bedplate.
